The Bloodlines
All of The People age at about the same rate, and all of them begin adventuring around 70 seasons (17.5 years).
Here are the seven bloodlines of The People: (all images courtesy of Todd Peacock )
Badger
A tenacious, fierce and stubborn bloodline;Badger:
- between 5 and 6 feet tall, between 180 and 250 lbs. Language: Common and Mustelid.
- Size: Medium
- +2 Constitution, +2 Wisdom
- Low Light Vision
- Speed: 5 Squares
- +2 Dungeoneering, +2 Endurance
- Scavenger: +2 saves against poison
- Share of the Stripe: Badgers are of Mustelid origin for the purpose of effects that relate to creature origin
- Determined Resilience: Use second wind as a minor action
- Digger's Weapon Proficiency: Gain proficiencies with hammers and picks.
- Strong Back: move at regular speed even when it would normally be reduced by armor or heavy load.
- Immovable Object: When an effect moves a Badger, they move one less than normal (effects that move one square do not move Badgers). Prone attacks require a badger to fail a saving throw.
The Badgers say: The world is. It has always been. It will always be. In the past, there were people, and then a great wind came and swept away all the people except The People. Now, the island is the home of The People, and the badger bloodline is given great strength and great conviction to defend The People and the island from the winds of change.
Wolf
Are patient, cooperative, and reserved by nature;Wolf:
- between 5.5 and 6.5 feet tall, between 140 and 200 lbs. Language: Common and Canid.
- Size: Medium
- Low Light Vision
- +2 Dexterity, +2 Intelligence
- Speed: 6 squares
- +2 Arcana, +2 History
- Lessons Learned: gain training in one additional skill from the skill list
- Long Claw: gain proficiency with the longsword
- Hunter's Mind: +1 racial bonus to Will Defense, and +5 bonus to saving throws versus charm effects
- Blood of the Pack: Canid blood runs in the veins, for the purpose of effects that relate to creature origin
- Hunter's Step: use "Fey Step" as an encounter power.
- Hunter's Nap: You need to spend 4 hours in this state to gain the same benefits other races gain from taking a 6-hour extended rest. While napping, you are fully aware of your surroundings and notice approaching enemies and other events as normal.
The Wolves say: The world was created when two littermates, Skoll and Hati, chased the sun into the sky. As the sun fled from them, it lit the world-forest on fire, and the sparks rose into the sky and made the stars, and their mother, the all-mother, was killed in the fire, and her ashes rose and became the moon. And so the brothers chase the sun and the moon across the sky, forever.
Coyote
Mischievous, active, and clever cousins;Coyote:
- between 5 and 6 feet tall, between 120 and 180 lbs. Language: Common and Canid.
- Size: Medium
- Low Light Vision
- +2 Dexterity, +2 Wisdom
- Speed: 7 Squares

- Coyote's Eyes: use "Elven Accuracy" as an encounter power
- Action at a Distance: Gain proficiency with longbow and shortbow
- Blood of the Pack: Canid blood runs in the veins, for the purpose of effects that relate to creature origin
- Nose for Noise: grant non-coyote allies within 5 squares a +1 bonus to perception
- Wild Step: ignore difficult terrain when you shift (even when shifting multiple squares)
The Coyotes say: The nothingness sneezed, and created the world. Then the nothingness coughed, and created Mischief, which created the pests: roaches, locusts, hares, snakes, and all of the things that brought strife to the world. And this made the nothingness sad, and it began to cry, and the tears rained down until the Mischief drowned. And from the drowned body of Mischief, coyotes rose, and then began to eat the things of Mischief, and thus the world was born.
Coyote Politics: The Coyotes have opted for a very chaotic influence on the Council than most have realized. They no longer send the eldest, most experienced to be Council members. Now they send some of the earliest 'successful' hunters, those who are only barely out of combat training and proving to deal with the Council. In this fashion, they bring the Unmaker's Wisdom to the Council proceedings, and ensure the truths of the People's needs are felt and experienced.
Coyote Tradition: After a Coyote perceives he has learned all s/he can at the Island, the Elders take a new journey in life. "Departure" is the term used within the Bloodline only to denote the reality that the Elder Coyotes take up a new exploratory journey. They simply leave the Island and start to explore some of the unexplored areas, for technological or perhaps magical discoveries. It is very common to see bursts of the Unmaker's Enlightenment on the horizon at times. The lesser bloodlines might call these explosions, but the Coyote revere those that have achieved this level of Enlightenment.
Jackal
A loud, boisterous, and sometimes cruel line;Jackal:
- between 5 and 5.5 feet tall, between 120 and 160 lbs. Language: Common and Canid.
- Size: Medium
- Low Light Vision
- Speed: 7 squares
- +2 Constitution, +2 Dexterity
- Skill bonuses: +2 Intimidate, +2 Perception
- Blood of the Pack: Canid blood runs in the veins, for the purpose of effects that relate to creature origin
- Talon Rage: When cornered, strike hard. (+2 damage when Bloodied)
- Strength In Numbers: When facing foes of the People, strike with many hands. (+2 damage vs. targets with 2 or more allies adjacent)
- Crow's Swoop: In battle, strike swiftly and decisively. (Encounter power - Standard action - Charge with +2 damage)
The Jackals say: The world-as-it-is is build on the bones of the world-that-was. The world-that-was prospered under the Eye of the sun, and then died, as all things do, and now the world-as-it-is grows from the bones and flesh of the corpse of the world-that-was. In turn, the world-as-it-is will grow, and thrive, and die, and the world-that-is-to-come will feast on the corpse of the world-as-it-is, and it is always thus.
Fox
Cunning, silent, and sly in general;Fox:
- between 3.5 and 4 feet tall, between 90 and 140 lbs. Language: Common and Canid.
- Size: Small
- Low Light Vision
- Speed: 5 squares
- +2 Charisma, +2 Intelligence
- Skill bonuses: +2 Arcana, +2 Stealth
- Forest's Fade: Use Fade Away as an Encounter Power
- Blood of the Pack: Canid blood runs in the veins, for the purpose of effects that relate to creature origin
- Tricksy: Once per encounter, use Ghost Sound as a minor action
- Start Hidden: If one has any cover or concealment when making an initiative check, you can make a Stealth Check
- Cunning: +5 racial bonus to save versus illusions
The Foxes say: There is a song that teaches the birth of the world, and it sings that a great oyster made a great pearl, and the pearl became the world, and the oyster became the sun, but before any of that was the moon, which waches over The People. The paw print of the fox lies on the face of the moon, and so foxes must watch their step in the light, and stay to the darkness, until the print weathers off, and the foxes can move into the light.
Wildcat
Aloof, haughty, and intelligent near-universally;Wildcat:
- between 3.5 and 4 feet tall, between 90 and 140 lbs. Language: Common and Felid.
- Size: Small
- Low Light Vision
- Speed: 6 squares
- +2 Charisma, +2 Dexterity
- Skill bonuses: +2 Acrobatics, +2 Thievery
- Whiskers of the Pride: Felinid blood runs in the veins, for the purpose of effects that relate to creature origin
- Better than Thou: +5 bonus to save versus fear
- More Dextrous than Thou: +2 racial bonus to AC against opportunity attacks
- One More Try: Use Second Chance as an encounter power
The Wildcats say: The world was made and cities were built and humans themselves were born to care for the cat. All history indicates that cats were the pinnacle of civilized culture, with great leaders of all types in all places counting on the aid of their wildcat owners. Whatever it is that caused the fall of the world, and it is unclear that it was even important what caused it, ended the reign of the wildcat, and ultimately the rebuilding of The People and the return of life to the world is for Wildcat kind.
Lynx
Temperamental, ferocious, and sanguine fellows;Lynx:
- between 5.5 and 6.5 feet tall, between 150 and 200 lbs. Language: Common and Felid.
- Size: Medium
- +2 Charisma, +2 Intelligence
- Low Light Vision
- Speed: 6 Squares
- +2 Bluff, +2 Stealth
- Whiskers of the Pride: Felinid blood runs in the veins, for the purpose of effects that relate to creature origin
- Sanguinary: +1 bonus to attack rolls against bloodied foes
- Promethean: Resist fire 5 + 1/2 your level
- Fury of the Feline: Use Infernal Wrath as an encounter power
The Lynxes say: The world was created, that much is clear, and then things happened, and now The People live and work and hunt. Prey is plentiful, and the world is challenging and exciting, and great and terrible things happen to The People in the course of a season. So dwelling on the past is pointless: it happened. Planning for the future is pointless: the world changes every moment. There is only the now, and it is best to take the world by the throat and hold on as hard as possible for as long as possible.
