DnD:AnimalPlanet:Sadian Session Eighteen
From RainGamersWiki
Mating season lasts for three days, marked by a lack of violence and lots of rutting. Via unnamed sources, it is indicated that The Pack should have a plan for themselves as the Council might have a plan that is not in our best interests or continued survival. I suggest that The Pack meet on the docks & find that Capt Curs'son is willing to provide his boat for our meeting. With the provision that I keep him in the loop. We discuss options on what our plan of action vs. what the Council wishes us to do. There are many options for us to explore, some are more dangerous than others & none that have a clear goal. All of which could benefit the people, though in different ways. One goal would be to find the Bears, treaty with the Harpies, explore San Francisco further, or clear out the dangers around the end of Span.
Inyan suggests that perhaps we could be the founders or perhaps protectors of a new colony on the mainland. Maya would like to know more about why the Council is acting in this manner and what their strategy/plan is. Very successful packs tend to be broken up after time due to promotions, returning to clans, accidents at sea, etc... It would seem that our success has caused many problems and pressures. Maya notes that we are perceived as anti-Council due to our actions & discoveries. He wishes more information on the situation. Kohana does a private sending to Shinte on the Councils motives.
What - We get retired / reassigned to a deskjob or given a suicide mission. Why - Not of one mind & we threaten their power base that has been established.
Lucan believes that we should journey back to the mainland and continue exploration. I am in agreement with Lucan on returning to the mainland. Inyan is concerned at the lack of feedback from his Elders and Bloodline. Kohana also suggests that we need to make colony sites safe for the people and to find perhaps other lost tribes.
I suggest that we take a tenth of the population to the end of the Span and create a new colony as an expansion point. Close enough to be reinforced, but far enough away to allow freedom to expand. Lucan suggest five locations, while Kohana suggests two or three potential areas. First colony is EEKA, the second is the Science Museum. Both have options of prey and safety. EEKA first, then find a safe route to Science Museum around the Harpy territory. Kohana asks that if the Lynx have a library that he could use to for research on the Bears. I will talk to Ovide to ask her to check the archives for anything that she could find. In talking with Capt Curs'son, he is willing to make his boat available should my pack needs to leave the island post-haste. And with a certain amount of capital, he could arrange a flotilla of ships to move a large number of people in short order.
After breaking from our meeting, there is an major Earthquake that lasts for a long time, as the earth itself seems to moan in pain. There is an extensive amount of damage on the island. The mainland buildings have collapsed and part of the Sunset bridge loses part of the roadway, though the span from Mid-Point island remains intact. However, there is the danger of the tsunami as the water level lowers. Kohana manages to cast a Lower Water ritual to save the boats, passing out in the process. Luckily I manage to drag him out of danger and put him the case of the Wildcats until he recovers. Most of The People are able to make it to safety though there is a loss of 9 including 3 pups/kits.
I have a dream, soundless & black/white - Ovide comes to me carrying a black box with sliding lid. Once she opens it there is a red rune of an eye that has been opened. It looks at me, then I look up at Ovide and she is screaming.
After the dream, I seek out Ovide and ask her about orb and the rune. She says that it is a Rune of True Seeing and that if it is open, then someone is peering through it, usually a Oni of some sort. For what manner or purpose is unclear. Kohana approaches me and asks to speak to the Communers of Nature. He appears to be unwell and is curious about anyone that might know of the Bears. I suggest that he needs to speak to one of the Clan Shamans. We proceed to talk to one of my aunts; Speaker Armunith.
