SESSION NINE - 12/27/09
A discussion was had in the morning. A message with information on the Rat people would be sent, but they are not organized as the people. There's quite a bit of impact on the people in regards to society, council [adding an 8th member might deadlock], religious [cousin rat]. Rather than sending to the Council, it is decided that the message would be sent to Kohana's great-grandfather.
As we finish up the ritual a large humanoid metal men shows. [Inscribed is Animal Control, K-9 Response Uniy] & followed by a large robotic dog creature. I motion for everyone to hide, as Lucan moves to concealment. The metal dog sends out a pinging noise which causes Kohana to cry out in pain. Battle is joined as the creatures assume a hostile pose. The metal hound bays at Kohana who manages to shield himself. Maya charges the large metal man, ramming his glaive intot the robot. The metal creatures appear to be resistant to Kohana's magic, while the dog barks at Inyan. As creatures of the Humans, they have knowledge of the Word. Inyan & Maya are savaged by the dog, dazed from the creatures bark. The Word heals Inyan and frees Maya from the creatures effects. The sounds they emit is unnerving and has a delirous effects upon Maya and Inyan. Inyan is brought bought down by the bark, but I was able to keep Maya up with the Word.
We finally bring the Metal Dog down under a hail of blows, arrows, and magic; allowing us to focus upon the metal man which continues to beat upon Maya. Our fight takes a step for the worse as Inyan & Maya are laid low by the Metal Man's attack. After an epic fight, we manage to fell the Metal man thought we have sustained many wounds. Nothing can be salvaged from the Metal Creatures. Inyan appears to be upset about falling in combat. A strange metal bird appears in the sky and Lucan fires upon i, missing, which then sends it flying off.
This news sends us off to the shore, though Lucan notes that the winged creature follows us but fails to inform us. Lucan finally decides to tell us after trying to shoot it down. I suggest that we invade it in the sewers after we recieve the message from Kohana's great-grandfather. We attempt to hide in the trees, but the flying thing appears to be using our body heat to track us.
The response back is swift. He suggests that we send back some of the rat brothers but we are not welcome back as the colonization factions are becoming more & more vociferious. As the messenger is sent, a series of flashes can be seen from the island by Lucan. It is in Felid, so he speaks out the message [Wildcat Message - Danger close, remain at sail. Further instructions to follow. At the end of the message, there is a large black cloud & a muffled explosion rom Angel island].
The group splits into seperate groups to see if we can lose the tail. It calls for more other metal birds, one for each of us. We decide to hit the sewers finding an entrance that is not observable. We attempt to head south towards Oakland & the source of Metal Men & Metal Birds. Using Knock, entrance is gained into a building and able to work our way to the surface. Our entrance is a hallway with gaps to the sky and lockers. The building is a school. Our trip into the sewer seems to have been sucessful. Our journey to the south continues.
A number of the metal birds and real birds are in the air as we move through the downtown Oakland. There's also a number of inged drakes. Our observation is interrupted by a large flying creature that is probably the largest we have ever seen. [It's a freaking dragon] It lands on a building, being about 30' in length and the same size in wingspan. We decide to head west and not expore further south. Upon noticing some BART signs, we go to look for another one of the maps. The local map is useful, as we have a copy of the route map.
The FD appears to be more intact, two story and appears to be open to nature. Inside is an articulated vehicle with human remains. The remains are dressed in clothing that has not been destroyed by the weather. Exploration finds rusted tools, a really nice ax, numerous brass fittings, and medical gear [broad spectrum anitbotic & neo-morpine - multiple shots]. 10 block map of Oakland with roads and buildings.
