DnD:AnimalPlanet:Sadian Session Nineteen
From RainGamersWiki
We gather before the meeting in the boat – a young wildcat delivers a box with the Eye of True Seeing. Inside the box is a rock [w/ a hidden key], a display screen that needs powers, and a piece of paper in code. I remember that the humans divided areas into “states” and that Oregon was a place to the north of our current area is California. Kohana shows us that he now has a bear spirit animal. This is a good omen.
As we arrive, there is a large group of People gathered to watch, while we are bidden to enter the large tent. The Wildcat Council member has been replaced by Kalista, another point in our favor. This is a diversion from tradition that the Wildcat council-member was usually picked from the ship’s Captain. She greets us warmly and makes us feel welcome. The Council is concerned that we are seeking to replace the Council and hold undue influence over the People. The Badger member GIVES us orders that we continue to expand borders of our knowledge. Jackal suggested that the People need to grow and that our loyalty is not questioned.
The Council thinks we do need to enter into negotiation with any cognizant species. Lucan insults the Badger council member with a comment of fear who demands satisfaction. This is to happen after we settle the current issues. I ask that if we are given leave to act as needed with the Council’s requests. I outline the proposals for the settlements and to further explore to the North for the Bear. The Council agrees to let us go off to find the Bears, but will take the matter of the settlements to a sub-committee. I suggest that this is a slow timetable and that we need to act now. I outline a plan to take 25-30 of each Bloodline to settle EEKA to start. Three days to get the settlement & volunteers.
Shinte & Kalista are using us a crowbar, Civette is annoyed that I’m blunt but doing her bidding, Heska die in a fire. Wolf Elder - Moving very fast, Mapu - Win/win, Harken - Clueless.
Mapu is going to be the judge in the contest of the honor. The honorable combat is to take place.outside near the waterfront. Fight is to first blood or ring-out. No striking a downed opponent. No armor and using hammers. Lucan suggests blindfolds which is agreed. Heska takes the initiative while Lucan manages to dodge out of the way. Lucan continues to insult the Heska and moves to make a trap by laying down his hammer in the path. Heska avoids it and lands a blow with the sledge hammer pushing Lucan back a step. The favor is returned. More taunts and blind charges. It soon becomes obvious that the Badger has the upper hand in the combat, though Lucan still hangs on.A blow from Lucan sends the Badger off balance. After a couple more rounds, Lucan finally manages to push the Elder out of the ring.
Lucan swears that it’s not about him, but it shows that we are more powerful than the Council. This could be bad for our argument and purpose. The fallout from this is going to be unhappy and that the perception of our Pack has been modified. Lucan shows that he is arrogant and speaks for “The Pack”, though we have no idea what he is going to say.
And Lucan repeats exactly what has already been said. This could have been done without insulting the Badger elder. He continues to put himself above the Council and above the People. Council reaction: Shinte - bastards for ducking out on the job, Civette - Lucan has good intentions but flails in the dark, Wolf Elder - Pretty words, but we could take over, Kalista - GTFO, Jackel - he’s a fanatic; Harken - confused, Badgers - supporting him due to having won the combat.
Over the next three days all activities are focused on prepping to get the settlement created and everything put into place. I spend my time looking up information on the Bears and finding other information that might be relevant. A bit of research shows some of the notation on the paper gives map references. One of which is to the North is the Portland Space Port up in Oregon. This gives us a location to head. This would take more than a month on foot. With the Galleon, it could take a great of time off our trip but that might be much too hazardous due to inexperience. This option will move all the settlers at once. There are two groups, we choose to travel with western group in order to provide a bit more recon and perhaps touch base with the Harpies.
The galleon is run by Captain Caddetke, who manages to tack against the wind and moves under the orange bridge into the rough sea. The Pack is quite sick during the journey, as are most of the passengers. We decide to check out the bell tower before leaving the settlers to their own devices. It takes a couple of days to reach the area. The building is surrounded by a patch of grass which is neatly kept, as is the state of the building. We watch a bird get zapped by the grass and then scooped up by a small robots. When the bells toll, the front door opened up and four robed figures came out, walked around the exterior, and then returned. The grass did not hurt them.
