Session Seven - 10/18/09
The restricted area is grimy & dirty. It has little of value though some spirit boxes which are not working. The bulletin boards have pictures & yellowed papers w/ faded writings. Large poster on the wall [Warning flu suffers, wash hands, this season has been severe]. Discussion about the employee area & use by the human priests of EEKA. The cube farm has numerous personal items and oddities. Maya searches the desks for religious connection to the EEKA god. Finds a lot of food & seasoning. Plus holy documents & pouches w/ personal items.
Kohana plays w/ a spirit box & tries to figure out how to communicate to it. Inyan finds a hidden panel behind a picture. Shinte & I go to investigate. There's a keypad, which needs a combo. Inyan finds the combo on the desk & Shinte uses it to open. There's 2 white cards, a red, a mechanism, and files. White cards have 5 digit numbers [2 different numbers], red card [Security], files [IKEA - Loss prevention - Official, record of thieves w/ an image attached]. The mechanism is a Walther P99. We have found gun & Kohana nearly wets himself. I tuck it away for future study & use. In looking at the puzzle, the first letter of each word is in a line. That would be the password. Using ADMIN as the user & the passcode w/ the system booting up w/ errors & labors. I send Shinte & Lucan to check on the front door as the Spirit Box warns of door intrusions. The only place we have not checked is the basement.
The red card does open the locked door & we descend a stairwell to another door w/ boxes behind it. Another stairwell down leads to the Basement & a dimly lit room w/ stream pipes & concrete flooring. We found a door & frame wrenched open by someone that might have been a "people". There's a channel with goo & sludge w/ water flowing. We hear a faint EEK, that sounds like a LARGE rat. 3 Rat People appear & start throwing stuff. Inyan leaps across the chasm [DC 25] & charges but fails to knock it down/back. I call upon the Word to bolster us against the creatures. Maya challenges one bringing him close, yet he retreats back. More ratmen are coming to join in the fight. Inyan engages multiple targets, forcing them back. Kohana uses a fire spell to incapacitate one of the creatures.
The Ratman leader uses a flash-bang wand on Lucan who is blinded. Kohana manages to engage the Rat Leader & bodyguards to pin them down. Maya brings them in closer & heals up the blinded Lucan. The Ratleader uses a cloud to obscure our vision. We are at a considerable disadvantage & need to press forward. A Ratman cleaves into Shinte w/ a mighty blow, who is badly hurt, but Maya manages to Lay on Hand. Everyone moves forward leaving me exposed to a ratman & who hits me before sucumbing to the Word. Inyan charges at the RatLeader who fails to disengage & is marked for doom. The snipers take down Lucan who manages to shoot the Leader even while blinded. I manage to cross the stream & heal up Lucan to fight once again. The Rat Leader flees, pursued by Inyan & Kohana. Trapped between the group, he surrenders to us and begs for mercy.
