We are picked up by a Wildcat Captain, either 3rd/4th in line of command. He seems elated and hiding the fact. I grill the captain about going, the Wildcats are looking to build one of the larger ships to explore. They also have some solutions put pending the resolution of other issues. The Captain seems reluctant to speak, but has the opinion that much has been put on hold. Many little brothers/sisters on Midpoint which are being driven off, but the Wolf clan is seeking to domesticate them. The rest of the trip home is uneventful.
Upon arrival, there is a large crowd of People [mixed bloodlines] waiting for us. Shurl Greencoat is there & there is much attention being given to us both males and females. Shinte calms the crowd and asks that we are to be left in peace. But first, we need to have a short discussion with Shinte. There's a Power Struggle going on with lots of shifting Alliances & jockeying for position. The general lines breakdown to Wildcat, Lynx, & Coyote as pro-expansion & we need to take territory. Wolves, Foxes, and Badgers are anti-expansion side. The Jackels are taking a side but perhaps a third path. Jackels believe that the Rats should be brought on to the Council & restore contacts with the Bear, plus make a treaty with the Harpies. The Jackel position is that our current expansion is enough. The general position of the People is that we were having issues w/ feeding and hunting, but our discoveries seems to have eased that.
The People know about the Rats but not the Harpies. Some information has been withheld. We are to meet with the Council after sundown tomorrow and a great feast will be held. We then go our separate ways and interact with our respective Bloodlines.
I am met at the dock by Shurl, who has been sent to escort me back to the Lynx Council. She mentions that hopefully her previous short-sightedness would not be held against her. I tell her than this in not the case & she gets much closer. I manage to get a distance between us before getting to the Lynx compound, to be greeted by Civette and Ovide. Our talk about the current state of the Council and how things are divided. There is a comment about the fear of the Humans and that expansion would be impeded by them. I tell her about the fate of the last Human and that we have nothing to fear from them. She asks if I know what I will be saying & would it interfere with the current Alliance. My response is that I would support the plans for expansion. Civette asks what I would like, but I request to be allowed to think about it overnight.
In the morning, Ovide gifts me with a bone flute of fine make and a message from Civette requesting a meeting at noon at the docks. My request to the Civette is to be allowed to choose my own mate in the upcoming season as I see fit and that my choice be protected. She responds by asking if I needed protection or support of the Council. I decline, saying that my Pack will protect each other. We discuss how what we will tell & if we are a united voice or a voice of disharmony.
The Feast is held in public and all the Bloodlines are present. We are given first choice of the meat. The Badger, Wildcat, and Lynx elders seem to be unhappy that the Council meeting is being held in the open. The Wildcat Elder takes the lead and notes that the Council is interested in hearing our report. I take the lead to speak for my Pack. <insert Speech here> The People seem enraptured by what is said, the Council is less so. The Wildcat Elder thanks us for the report and says that the Council needs to deliberate. He then calls for the the celebration to continue and that the Mating Season begins.
