In the early dawn hours there's a strange metallic noise off in the distance. Lucan goes to investigate & there's 3 metal men w/ large hammers on one hand. He exposes himself & fires an arrow to distract them. They speak in English & note that there's a curfew in effect. I try to reason with them but they request ID. They will not let me leave until I have produced the ID & move to detain me.
Combat ensues with Lucan firing the first shot & Kohana attempting to pin down the enemy. The enemy creatures [3 hammer, 3 halos, 1 elite robots] attack & move forward swiftly. Another 3 hammers arrive as Lucan destroys two of them & moves close to the Command Bot. One of the Hammer pops rollerskates & charges, but Inyan crushes it as it rolls forward. Maya uses Pain of Death to challange the Eliute & does big damage. Shinte does he stab & manages to direct an attack towards the leader. The Command Bot casts a fireball to do minor damage to the party. Shinte again takes shots and needs to run away to be healed. Lucan manages to destroy the Command Bot, which explodes hurting Kaliska. Inyan keeps the Halo Bots from moving to engage me. I stand in the middle of the chaos of battle & keep everything moving in accordance to the Word. None of our opponents are able to touch me until one of the Hammers closes but the Word protects. With Scorn I destroy the metal man in a burst. Maya stabs and pushes the Halo Bot to Inyan, who finishes the Bot with a single blow.
After finishing the fight, we move quickly as the creatures might have summoned others. Kohanan found piece of script that talks about food & thinking food. There might be others either captive or controlling. Lucan could track back to their base. A crow swoops down & delivers a message that summons Kaliska back to the island. We decided to investigate some of the cargo crates that might be used for homes, storage, or perhaps, transport. Shinte opens one of the mechanical locks, while I use the Word to open one of the electronic locks. The crate is full of paper bills which could be used if pulped or for people writing. My crate contained sides of beef, dressed & preserved. Testing the meat shows that it is edible. Upon opening the meat will go bad quickly within a day. We take two sides plus a partially consumed one to the Wildcats.
A discussion is had on the disposition of the meat & other goods. Lucan is concerned that the Council will horde it & only pass it on to the favored. The party is divided on action, on should we return with the goods or stay to explore further. It is agreed that the Council is not to be trusted, but there's little to be done now. We will send the food & goods back, then stay to explore further.
Captain Curs'son - Many people are thinking of leaving the island & advanced groups are starting to secure Midpoint island for use. There's also a barracade being built upon the Midpoint side of the bridge. There's also some dissension from the Wolf, Foxes, & Badger but nothing concrete. Wildcats & Wolf seem to fall into the Lynx camp on not being happy w/ the Council.
We return to EEKA & continue to explore around - it appears that something has been there since we had left. The shutters have been retracted allowing us access inside. We gain access to the locked area and continue our exploration.
