We enter the church after avoiding the lightning grass to find a Mass in effect at St. Egniaus. There’s a number of robed figures polishing the pews, which we find out to be robots after a fashion. There’s Deacon Peter & Paul, plus Pastor Xavier. They worship Jesus, who is a minor demi-god to a singular god, but is not a saint, like Maya. They do explain their ritual of eating flesh, though you need many rituals & be ordained in the priesthood. They show up the organ and turn it on. I see this as the perfect instrument, capable of spreading the WORD and SONG. Something I must learn to use to compose and play future songs. The Wiki Device comes up with some serious reference, but nothing that allows me to play the device. The priests inform us that the lightning grass is harmless to human-sized people, thus we are safe to come & go in the future.

We are returning to the new colony, skirting around the edge of forest. At a clearing we find a ruined dwelling that smells of waste. Something large and nasty has been around here lately, having killed something, and left webbing around. Lucan picks up a stick and throws it at the webbing, drawing out a large spider. It reminds me of the some of the old legends and perhaps this is one of the elder beasts mentioned in the human legends. It leaps forward and unleashes webbing on the group [weakened, save ends]. We shake off the evil effect w/o much trouble and renew our assault on the creature. The beast managed to spray webs all over, then attacked Inyan, continuing our struggle.w/ the beast. As we wound it, the creatures stuns our defenders, crawls to me, and strikes me for a mighty blow. [down to 16 hit pts]. Our fight was long and tiring, requiring many of our abilities to survive. Maya survived by the grace of the WORD as the creature spend most of its fury on him.
