Paladin's Log, session 12
While we rested, Kohana fixed the gate so that it raced with lightning again. There is no sunlight visible inside the building. The artificial sun tubes turn on and off randomly. There are pads to toggle the light, but they turn off shortly after. Lucan says there is a timed pattern.
We return to the great door which says “FIRE DOOR”. Lucan checks it out. The door is locked by some unknown mechanism. He says the door sings to him.
Kohana chants a ritual, and we all join in, and the door clunks as the locks give way.
Beyond the door lies a hall which looks much like the prior one, with a similar rolling door and doors to the sides. Lucan notes something odd. Inyan pushes open a side door to a room with windows plated over with metal. There is woven fabric on the floor, and stacks of boards on the wall along with stacks of chairs. The walls of the rooms and halls are foldable to open the space.
We roll up the next rolling door, and at the end of the hallway is a biped which is completely white. It has a strange muzzle with large growths, and the eyes are a flat plane of black glass. It sees Lucan and runs for a far door. Lucan shoots it and misses. It passes through a door, and a high pitched whine begins.
The ceiling opens and a metal skeletal Little Person falls out. Sadian writes a message on the fabric, but the dog thing moves up and blasts with sound. Inyan smashes it, I stab and miss. Kohana's magic sputters.
Some things tear through the wall that look like smaller metal Little Persons. They fire things from their arms. The big one blasts at Sadian and Inyan. I call upon the Raven Queen to protect Sadian with my own life as I pursue a little one into the room and dispatch it. Lucan dispatches the big one.
Kohana summons ice to rid us of more small ones. Two more dog-shaped metal creatures, much larger, appear from the ceiling. They charge Inyan and Lucan. Sadian's song drives one back and I stab it.
Two more things drop from the ceiling behind us, similar to the first one, and beat up Sadian and Lucan. I issue a divine challenge and dispatch the last small one and batter the large with a vengeful arc of my glaive.
Kohana lets loose with a burst of deadly cold. Inyan takes another spinning blade. Sadian almost goes down but rallies. I also rally. Kohana summons a flaming ball of annoyance.
They move in and attack some more. Inyan, Sadian, and I are all bloodied. Inyan powers a big one to the floor and I issue a righteous smite upon it, then call upon the power of sacrifice to restore Inyan's stamina.
Sadian gives me a word of majesty which heals my wounds. The two behind stab at Sadian and Inyan. I circle around trying to draw the metal beast in. Lucan looses a flurry of arrows.
Eventually, we put it down.
