Paladin's Log, session 19

Previous: (one auto d20 for recap, one auto 20 for updating the wiki)

Maya has a ceramic knife, the assorted Human snacks, and two packets of ash.

We gather on the boat again. A knock on the door. A young wildcat brings Kohana a box. On the box is the symbol of an eye. The same that I saw in my dream! Inyan and Sadian also had dreams of the eye. We discuss our dreams. Inyan opens the box. There is a stench. It contains a broken piece of glass, a rock with a compartment, and a piece of paper with writing on it.

We must meet the council now. There are a number of people following Kohana. We are invited in for a closed hearing. The wildcat councilor has been replaced by Kaliska. The council feels that a single pack cannot be too powerful. They ask us to continue expanding the borders of the knowledge of the People. They ask for our opinions.

Sadian asks about the rats, harpies, and bears. Lucan insults the badger who demands satisfaction. Inyan feels that knowledge should be defended.

Sadian makes our proposal to find the bears and to found the settlements.

The council will form a subcommittee to plan the settlements, and accept our mission to find the bears. Sadian urges the council to act at once. There is more discussion. The council agrees to establish the first settlement in three days.

Now it is time for the duel. Inyan offers to champion the badger and is declined. Lucan names Mahpuya as the judge.

The badger requests mattocks. Lucan demands blindfolds. It begins. The battle rages back and forth, and ultimately Lucan wins by pushing the badger out of the ring.

He then addresses the council and urges them not to fear us, even though he has given them even more reason to fear us, and his actions make the council almost superfluous.

We help prepare for the settlement. I assist Kohana with object reading on the box and contents. It was assembled by dark-skinned humans using glue. A bear applied the eye using a stencil. A wildcat placed the box in the archives.

A human of light skin and gold hair wrote the paper. A bear found the paper in a satchel. The blood came from the same human when he placed it in the satchel. Several times it was copied by bears.

The glass is lying on the ground and the same human dropped it, with flames behind him. Before that, he was copying the information from it onto the paper. Before that, he had entered the information into it.

The key was placed in the rock by the same human in front of a house. The key has never been used to unlock something. This key is a copy.

Kohana gets the glass device working and it asks for numbers. He puts in the first line from the paper and it makes words. Launch code: Icarus: target: station Lima 5

It makes no sense. Kohana asks his pocket spirit box and it says that Icarus is an old legend who died foolishly.

On the evening of the second day, the wildcats reveal their new three-masted galleon which can transport a hundred easily. That will take the science museum settlement.

On the third day, we load for the settlement. We join the western group. We land on the ocean coast and the settlement leader sets up camp. The tree line. We decide to check out the bell tower for possible threats before we head north.

The grass around it is perfectly manicured. Lucan senses something odd watching the area. The grass seems to buzz, and a bird lands on it and dies. Inyan begins to dig a hole to see what is under the grass. He finds a metal mesh just under.

The bells ring, four humanoids in cowled robes come out, walk the perimeter, and go in.

Kohana uses a new ritual to see inside.
