Description:
BACKGROUND
Robbie Norlington was a geek, a nerd, a brain. He even entered college a year early and excelled in science and math, but he was especially a whiz with computers. Since the age of 8, he could make computers do things that people three times his age couldn't. He was never a serious hacker, but he played around with telephones, national databases, secured accesses, and password cracking. In college, he took to computer programming and aced all of his courses easily, but he never really learned how to socialize well.At the age of 17 still and needing to find a job to earn some money, he went for a position as "campus cop" -- the college security force, on night patrol. One night, while he was checking through the Physics department's lab complex, he stumbled upon (villain) in the midst of stealing the department's latest physics experiment -- a "gravity beam". Robbie managed to stall the villain until they decided to make a break for it. The gravity beam got loose and smashed into another experiment in biological energy transferrence and exploded, catching Robbie in the effects as the villain got away.A few minutes later, Robbie regained consciousness and found himself possessed of amazing powers of gravity control. He could collapse his own molecules and become almost as dense as the material from a neutron star and almost vanishingly tiny -- about 6 millimeters tall but over 100 tons in mass. With the real police on the way in response to the alarms, Robbie stayed just long enough to make an official report, then made a hasty retreat to discover his new powers. With his new-found abilities, he realized that anyone so gifted would be obligated to fight for the little people, the abused, the pushed-around, the stepped-on, the repressed -- like he used to be. This geek was now a hero -- Black Hole, teen master of the cosmic vortex!
