Inyan's deal is that he loves his father, Nvya and mother Ulinawi. Being picked, as one of the strongest and most fit, to become a fighter meant that he had to give up part of him self. He left his parents house when he was 32 seasons and could never go back. He worked as hard as he could training to become the best that he could be. All he really wanted as he excelled was to be between his dad and mom in there burrow. To smell them and feel safe. He was taught the idea of expelling the self to become the perfect warrior. That one day he may earn the right to lose a name or both his names. Alone at night he'll weep to himself as he repeats his family name over and over again. Trying to hold on to something that to all around him he has forgot.

Note: To retcon a bit, Inyan would of gone to see his parents when commissioned to go to the main land. This would be the first time he could see them. To tell him of his honor and to thank them for giving him up. His tears and the tight hugs were not seen by anyone but Inyan would of gone and scrubbed him self and rolled in the dirt afraid that someone would smell his parents on him.

It is an honor to be given a burrow underground. Inyan after his first successful mission to find a map earned his right to room underground. It's been the first privacy he's had in ten years.

Training for badger warriors is intense. Most only ever get to be guards who stand watch. Every adventuring party has a badger warrior in it. Every year 10 badgers at the age of 32 season are picked at competitions and with the eye of an elder watching over it all. There is no favoritism with this process. Most elders' children do not even get chosen to begin training. This pure and rigorous training is from the time when not being organized caused so many deaths.

Privacy is at a premium. It is a very crowded island.
